Where to Capture the Beauty of Shinjuku

Shinjuku is one out of the 23 wards in Tokyo and one of the most notable places in this beautiful city. But when people mention Shinjuku, they're often not talking about the entire ward but the area around the Shinjuku Station. Why?

It's not far-fetched. Shinjuku Station is known as the busiest railway station IN THE WORLD!

As you could rightly guess, this particular area is filled with magnificent skyscrapers, shopping malls, and lots, lots, of people passing by! Over 3.5 million, in fact.

With over 280 exits and over 25,000 trains passing through the station daily, Shinjuku is nothing short of a wonderfully vibrant place to be.

Interestingly but not surprisingly, many photographers flock to Shinjuku on a daily basis to grab a masterpiece shot.

So if you want to get the best view of Shinjuku in a photograph, where do you go?

Shinjuku Skyscraper District

If you're a photographer and you want to grab a scenic photo of Shinjinku, then you'll love the architecture on the west side of Shinjuku station. This part is filled with breathtaking skyscrapers.

That includes the Keio Plaza, Hyatt Regency, Park Hyatt, and the famous Shinjuku Government Observatory.

Also known as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the Shinjuku Government Observatory offers a picturesque skyline view of Tokyo from its two 243-meter tall observatories. You can climb up (for free) with your camera to the observatory to catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji, The Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and even the Meiji Shrine in favorable weather conditions.

Come get some beautiful panoramic photos of Tokyo to showcase.

Capture the glorious nightlife ambiance of Shinjuku

If you're a sucker for nightlife photos, then you don't want to miss the east side of Shinjuku. With beautiful neon lights and urban ambiance, the whole of Tokyo comes to life at night in a whole new dimension.

Head to the east side of the station at night if you want to get the best nightlife photos of Shinjuku. The Robot Restaurant Neon Sign and Godzilla Road are some of the most photogenic spots around here.

But never miss capturing over the bridge at night. Go over the pedestrian bridge to see the neon-lit Shinjuku on full display. However, you'll need a telephoto or mid-range zoom lens to really get the best of this photogenic spot.

What makes the view super photogenic is the pedestrians and cars running underneath the bridge, the green train track, and the glorious glittering buildings behind it. A perfect depiction of Shinjuku.

Go ahead! Get your best shot.

Whether night or day, Shinjuku promises every photographer a masterpiece. Sounds good? Of course! So grab your camera and go get yours!

Keep the place on your phone and go shoot it!

And for you, I would love to share some of my favorite place to shoot in Shinjuku, but also Tokyo and around Japan.

For sure, those are my personal preferences and places who look interesting for me (a foreigner living in Japan). And if you want to contribute to this map, please share your best place in comment or by mail and we will add some of them.
